Notice:
I've been working on these new ratings for the past few months,
so they are still somewhat experimental. They are based entirely on stats and
earnings, with no reference to form, speed or handicap ratings.
They have not as yet been fully tested over a significant period, so I would
recommend paper trading/small stakes should you decide to follow them.
The ratings include jockey stats, so any jockey changes must be treated with caution
unless I note them and update the page. The same goes for non-runners, particularly
those that are blue rated.
Key:
AvCr: Average earnings per start (EPS) of the trainer, jockey and horse at the course. The ratings are sorted by this figure. Blue is top.
AvCl: Average earnings per start (EPS) of the trainer, jockey and horse at this class. I use the old class structure; Irish racing is defined by the value of the race, where there is no class defined (ie, Group, Listed, etc). Blue is top.
LM: Average percentage of recent (Last Month) racing for trainer, jockey and horse. This figure also incorporates trainer/jockey combinations. A blue LM indicates a horse within the top 20% for this race.
Cty: certainty... to be honest couldn't think what else to call this. It's a percentage figure. Basically the more races used to provide the previous three figures, the higher this figure will be.
HD and HG: percentage of earnings by the horse at the Distance and on this Going. A figure of 100 indicates the highest earner. A minimum of 10 runs is used for this figure. If this figure is 0, then it is ignored when creating the TOT rating.
TOT: This is the average percentage of all the previous figures (% of AvCr, % of AvCl, LM, HD and HG). A blue TOT indicates a horse with a rating of 80%+.
Blue figures indicate either selections or dangers. Horses blinkered or visored first time are highlighted in red; I generally avoid these selections.
A good situation may be where the top horse is blue right across (rated 90+ in the TOT column, LM of 50+, and a high Cty figure) and there are no other blue figures below it. One method I've been looking at is where the top horse is rated blue,
with at least 40 LM, and the second horse has no blue at all; another alternative is
to look for a single blue-rated LM horse, with a LM rating of 60 or greater.
